Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, has revealed plans for another reform of the Territorial Defense Brigades in an interview with 24tv.ua<\/a>. The proposal, initiated by Syrskyi himself, has already been approved by the President of Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reform envisions a reduction in the number of territorial defense battalions within each brigade, alongside the creation and significant strengthening of an unmanned component consisting of two battalions of unmanned systems. According to Syrskyi, this restructuring is intended to enhance the defensive capabilities of Territorial Defense units. He also acknowledged that employing Territorial Defense formations in offensive operations is impractical, emphasizing that the reform is focused on strengthening their defensive role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first major reform of the Territorial Defense Brigades took place in mid-2025, when a comprehensive restructuring was implemented. During that process, all separate battalions within territorial defense brigades were reorganized into line battalions, streamlining the force and eliminating redundant command and management elements.
