This was announced by the <a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/opforukraine\/71\">official media<\/a> of the unit.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The OPFOR battalion was the only unit of the Armed Force of Ukraine which plays the role of a conditional opponent during exercises. The unit was established in 2016 at the initiative of U.S. military instructors. Following the full-scale invasion in the spring of 2022, the battalion was restructured into a separate special battalion and took part in the defense and liberation of the Kyiv region.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/opforukraine\/71\">According to the battalion<\/a>, the changes in organizational and structural composition will enable the unit to be equipped with modern weaponry, both Ukrainian and Western-made.
