Major General Dmytro Krasylnikov, the commander of Operational Command \"North,\" has been dismissed from his position. He confirmed the news in a comment to Supine<\/a>, stating that no specific reasons were provided for his dismissal. Krasylnikov has been reassigned to a reserve battalion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Maria Bezuhla's Facebook post, Krasylnikov was dismissed by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Gen. Oleksandr Syrsky, despite opposition from the Commander of the Ground Forces, Mykhailo Drapaty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brigadier General Oleksii Shandar, formerly the deputy commander of the Air Assault Forces, has been appointed as his replacement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About Dmytro Krasylnikov<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brigadier General Dmytro Krasylnikov oversaw the training of the Ukrainian Ground Forces command. With the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he commanded the Operational-Tactical Group \"North.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the beginning of the invasion, he was responsible for defending the Kharkiv region and the Horlivka direction in Donbas. In 2022, he withstood two days of continuous enemy assaults, preventing Russian forces from advancing into Kharkiv from Luhansk Oblast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On February 28, 2022, Krasylnikov was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine and the Order of the Golden Star for his personal bravery, heroism in defending Ukraine\u2019s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and loyalty to the military oath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Krasylnikov is 44 years old. In 2014, he participated in the liberation of Toretsk in Donetsk Oblast. That same year, he led the 34th Territorial Defense Battalion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was recently revealed that the 21st Army Corps, which was formed<\/a> within the Territorial Defense Forces in early 2025, has been transferred to the Ground Forces and is now under the command of Operational Command North. No official reason for the change has been announced. The 21st Army Corps was the only corps within the Territorial Defense Forces, and this decision now leaves Territorial units without a dedicated army corps formation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
