The 81st Airmobile Brigade of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces has received an undisclosed number of Stryker armored personnel carriers, according to an announcement made<\/a> on the brigade's official social media channels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

This makes the 81st Airmobile Brigade the third unit within the Air Assault Forces\u2014and the fourth overall\u2014to receive Stryker armored personnel carriers. The 11th Army Corps, the oldest active formation in the Ukrainian Army, has recently undergone a significant reorganization. As part of its reformation, the corps has adopted a new insignia and assumed command of several experienced brigades. These include the 24th Mechanized Brigade<\/a>, 30th Mechanized Brigade<\/a>, and 56th Motorized Brigade<\/a>\u2014all veteran units. Currently, these brigades are deployed near Chasiv Yar, a frontline sector now under the responsibility of the 11th Army Corps, as reported by MilitaryLand<\/a> on July 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The corps also temporarily commands the 54th Mechanized Brigade<\/a> and the 81st Airmobile Brigade<\/a>. However, these units are not structurally subordinated to the corps and are attached only on a temporary basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Oldest Corps<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The 11th Army Corps is the oldest corps-level formation in the Ukrainian Army. Established in 2016 as a Reserve Corps, its original role was to oversee and maintain the Army\u2019s reserve forces. From its remnants, a new formation\u2014the 3rd Airmobile Battalion of the same brigade\u2014was created. The change was confirmed by the unit\u2019s official Instagram account<\/a> and the official Facebook page of the 81st Airmobile Brigade. After more than a decade, 122nd Airmobile Battalion ends its path as a separate unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

About 122nd Airmobile Battalion<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n

The 122nd Airmobile Battalion was originally formed in 2014 on the basis of the 3rd Airmobile Battalion of the 80th Air Assault Brigade. It took part in the defense of Donetsk Airport, holding its positions until the very last days of the battle. Since the beginning of Russia\u2019s full-scale invasion in 2022, the battalion had defended Izyum, Sievierodonetsk, and Rubizhne, and later took part in the liberation of Lyman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
