On the 20th of April 2026, 14th’s commander, Lieutenant Colonel Anatolii Lisetskyi, was replaced by Colonel Taras Maksimov<\/a>.

Three units have been found to have been under the command of the 10th Army Corps of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, with two being recently assigned. This was confirmed by the corps' official Facebook page. The new units that have been assigned are the 14th Mechanized Brigade<\/a>, the 1st Medical Battalion<\/a>, and the 183rd Reserve Battalion<\/a>. On July 12, 2025, MilitaryLand also reported <\/a>that the 43rd Mechanized Brigade<\/a> entered service with the 10th Army Corps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the units<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The 14th Mechanized Brigade was previously under the direct command of Operational Command West<\/a>. The brigade was formed in 2014, based on the 51st Mechanized Brigade, and has been active in combat operations since its inception. Following the full-scale Russian invasion, the unit was deployed to Kyiv Oblast to help block a potential Russian advance to the west. It later took part in the Kharkiv offensive and, since 2023, has been holding the line near Kupyansk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 1st Medical Battalion was previously known as the Medical Service of the International Legion<\/strong> in the Ukrainian Ground Forces, being reformed and expanded as a separate unit on February 5, 2025. The battalion is composed predominantly of ethnic Ukrainians. It becomes the third corps to have its dedicated medical battalion, with the others being the 4th Medical Battalion<\/a> inside of the 3rd Army Corps<\/a>, formed on the basis of the Medical Service of the 3rd Assault Brigade<\/a>, and the 2nd Medical Battalion subordinated to the 12th Army Corps<\/a> stationed in Kyiv.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the 183rd Reserve Battalion<\/a>, which was discovered by MilitaryLand back in March 2025, is under the command of the corps. This was confirmed with the corps posting <\/a>that soldiers of the battalion completed a foundational course, with more to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukraine\u2019s General Staff has announced<\/a> the dismissal of the commander of the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade and the removal and demotion of the commander of the 10th Army Corps, citing concealment of the real situation on the front line, loss of positions, and failures in supplying troops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The personnel decisions were made public a day after reports emerged about severe supply shortages affecting soldiers of the 14th Brigade operating on the Kharkiv axis, where troops were reportedly left without food and water. However, the General Staff maintains that both commanders were relieved of their duties prior to the media coverage. According to the General Staff, Russian strikes on crossings over the Oskil River have significantly complicated logistics in the Kupiansk area. Ukrainian forces are currently relying on watercraft and heavy drones to maintain supply routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn these difficult conditions, particular attention is being paid to supporting our servicemen carrying out missions on the front line,\u201d<\/em> the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, the General Staff noted that the previous leadership of the 14th Brigade had concealed the true state of affairs, lost a number of positions, and made \u201ca series of miscalculations\u201d in troop support, including failures to deliver food to certain positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTo rectify the situation, a number of \u043a\u0430\u0434\u0440\u043e\u0432\u0456 decisions have been made,\u201d<\/em> the statement read. \u201cIn particular, the commander of the 14th Brigade has been removed from his post, and the commander of the 10th Army Corps has been dismissed and reassigned with a demotion.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Colonel Taras Maksimov has been appointed as the new commander of the 14th Brigade, while Brigadier General Artem Bohomolov will lead the 10th Army Corps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A comprehensive commission from the Ground Forces is currently conducting an investigation into the identified violations. The General Staff said the internal inquiry is nearing completion and that its findings will be forwarded to law enforcement authorities for legal assessment. Officials also stated that the new leadership of both the brigade and the corps is taking \u201call possible measures\u201d to stabilize the situation and restore proper supply to frontline troops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi has instructed Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi, who oversees the 10th Army Corps within the Joint Forces grouping, to carry out inspections of logistical support for frontline units. The General Staff added that a fresh shipment of food has recently been delivered to positions held by the 14th Brigade, and that evacuation of personnel will be carried out as soon as conditions allow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For two and a half years, the story remained untold. The positions no longer exist. Many of the soldiers who fought there are dead. Even the battalion itself has since been dissolved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What remains are fragments of memory from the Kupiansk direction in 2023\u20132024 \u2014 a brutal chapter of the war in which fighters of the 61st Separate Rifle Battalion found themselves trapped \u201cbetween\u201d larger brigades, often fighting, bleeding, and dying without recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe used to joke bitterly,\u201d<\/em> recalls one officer from the battalion.\u201cWe were slaves to the 44th Brigade and prisoners of the 14th.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officially, the 61st Battalion was attached to the 44th Mechanized Brigade, operating near Borova. In practice, however, units were scattered across positions under the command of the 14th Mechanized Brigade near Synkivka. At the same time, soldiers from the 30th Mechanized Brigade were also deployed there after reportedly being \u201cwithdrawn for recovery\u201d<\/em> following devastating battles in Soledar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The battalion was fragmented. Platoons and companies were distributed among different brigades and commands. \u201cOur battalion was torn apart,\u201d<\/em> the officer says. \u201cMy own company was split in half \u2014 one platoon attached to the 30th Brigade, the others to the 14th.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
