{"id":77329,"date":"2026-02-21T20:39:26","date_gmt":"2026-02-21T19:39:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/?p=77329"},"modified":"2026-02-21T20:39:27","modified_gmt":"2026-02-21T19:39:27","slug":"edelweiss-brigade-appoints-new-commander","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ua\/news\/edelweiss-brigade-appoints-new-commander\/","title":{"rendered":"Edelweiss Brigade Appoints New Commander"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 10th Mountain Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, commonly known as the Edelweiss Brigade, has been appointed a new commander.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This comes after the loss of the city of Siversk, north of Bakhmut, leading to the dismissal of two brigade commanders: Colonel Volodymyr Potyeshkin, the commander of the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade, and Colonel Olkesiy Konoval, the commander of the <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ua\/ukraine\/armed-forces\/54th-mechanized-brigade\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"15736\">54-\u0430 \u043c\u0435\u0445\u0430\u043d\u0456\u0437\u043e\u0432\u0430\u043d\u0430 \u0431\u0440\u0438\u0433\u0430\u0434\u0430<\/a>, both of whom<a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ua\/news\/commanders-of-10th-and-54th-brigades-dismissed\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/news\/commanders-of-10th-and-54th-brigades-dismissed\/\"> <em>MilitaryLand <\/em>reported on<\/a> back in late December 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following weeks of uncertainty, a successor to Potyeshkin has been identified. Many soldiers spoke highly of Chuzykov at the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 10th Mountain Assault Brigade is currently a part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ua\/ukraine\/armed-forces\/15th-army-corps\/\">15-\u0439 \u0430\u0440\u043c\u0456\u0439\u0441\u044c\u043a\u0438\u0439 \u043a\u043e\u0440\u043f\u0443\u0441<\/a>. The corps currently contains a series of well-experienced and newly formed and reformed units, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ua\/ukraine\/armed-forces\/44th-artillery-brigade\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"16673\">44th Artillery<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ua\/ukraine\/armed-forces\/129th-territorial-defense-brigade\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"18780\">129th Heavy Mechanized<\/a>, \u0430 \u0442\u0430\u043a\u043e\u0436 <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ua\/ukraine\/armed-forces\/158th-mechanized-brigade\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"31871\">158-\u0430 \u043c\u0435\u0445\u0430\u043d\u0456\u0437\u043e\u0432\u0430\u043d\u0430 \u0431\u0440\u0438\u0433\u0430\u0434\u0430<\/a>. <\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 10th Mountain Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, commonly known as the Edelweiss Brigade, has been appointed a new commander.
