In September 2023, following the failed offensive in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, the brigade\u2019s poor battlefield performance and internal issues within the command staff, Oleksandr Sak was removed from his position as commander.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u0423 \u043b\u0438\u0441\u0442\u043e\u043f\u0430\u0434\u0456 2024 \u0440\u043e\u043a\u0443 <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ua\/news\/oleksandr-sak-appointed-commander-of-the-53rd-mechanized-brigade\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/news\/oleksandr-sak-appointed-commander-of-the-53rd-mechanized-brigade\/\">Sak was promoted to the rank of Colonel and was appointed commander<\/a> \u043f\u0440\u043e \u0440\u043e\u0437\u0448\u0438\u0440\u0435\u043d\u043d\u044f <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ua\/ukraine\/armed-forces\/53rd-mechanized-brigade\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"11904\">53-\u0442\u044f \u043c\u0435\u0445\u0430\u043d\u0456\u0437\u043e\u0432\u0430\u043d\u0430 \u0431\u0440\u0438\u0433\u0430\u0434\u0430<\/a>. After only six months, <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ua\/news\/59th-brigade-has-a-new-commander\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/news\/59th-brigade-has-a-new-commander\/\">in May 2025, he took the lead<\/a> of the reorganized <a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ua\/ukraine\/unmanned-systems-forces\/59th-motorized-brigade\/\" data-type=\"unit\" data-id=\"15714\">59-\u0430 \u0448\u0442\u0443\u0440\u043c\u043e\u0432\u0430 \u0431\u0440\u0438\u0433\u0430\u0434\u0430<\/a>, which currently leads on the Pokrovsk front, in april 2026, when the\u00a0famous\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ua\/news\/signum-unit-joins-unmanned-systems-forces\/\">Signum Unmanned Systems Battalion<\/a>\u00a0transferred from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/militaryland.net\/ua\/ukraine\/armed-forces\/53rd-mechanized-brigade\/\">53rd Brigade<\/a>\u00a0to the\u00a059th Brigade, likely following the desire to reconnect with its former commander.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Colonel Sak holds all three classes of the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi \u2014 a rare distinction reflecting that each award was earned through real operations, decisions, and risks taken personally and responsibly.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oleksandr \u201cStaff\u201d Sak began his service in the 93rd Mechanized Brigade during the ATO period as a platoon commander, progressing to company up to 3rd battalion commander, with each step earned through real combat experience.
