Bolhrad Company

Bolhrad Company was a volunteer unit of the Special Purpose Patrol Police of Ukraine. It was formed in Bolhrad, Odesa Oblast, in September 2014 to perform public security and critical infrastructure protection duties.

On 10 September 2014, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Serhii Chebotar visited Bolhrad and announced the formation of the Special Purpose Company “Bolhrad”. A former military hospital in the city was selected as the unit’s base. The company was planned to consist of up to 100 personnel recruited from local residents and was tasked with maintaining public order in the region.

On 11 October 2014, newly recruited personnel underwent training conducted by servicemen of the Kyiv-1 Battalion, who had recently returned from the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone. The program included live-fire exercises while moving, weapon reloading on the move, transitions between primary and secondary weapons, urban combat scenarios, searches of buildings and vehicles, detection of enemy ambushes, counterterrorism procedures, and basic combat medical training.

In January 2015, the company was assigned to guard the strategic bridge in Izmail, Odesa Oblast, and the Mriya children’s camp.

During May and June 2015, the unit guarded government facilities in Bolhrad District, including the district state administration and city council buildings, as well as the Bolhrad water utility, which was designated a critical infrastructure facility.

In September 2015, following a reorganization of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Bolhrad Company was disbanded. Its personnel were transferred to the Батальйон "Штурм, where they formed the battalion’s 3rd Company.
