Three brigades join 17th Army Corps

Three brigades of the Ground Forces have officially joined the newly established 17th Army Corps (17-й армійський корпус). This corps consolidates forces deployed in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, where they are currently responsible for the defense of this sector.
Among them is the veteran 128th Mountain Assault Brigade, garrisoned in Mukachevo, Zakarpattia Oblast, making it the westernmost unit of the Ground Forces.
Two other battle-hardened brigades have also been incorporated. The 65th Mechanized Brigade, formed in 2022, has successfully held positions towards Zaporizhzhia since its inception. Meanwhile, the 110th Mechanized Brigade is renowned for its steadfast defense of Avdiivka.
The list of brigades subordinated to the 17th Army Corps is not yet final, with additional units expected to be announced in the future.
The Commander
The commander of the 17th Army Corps has not yet been officially announced. However, MilitaryLand recently reported on the departure of Volodymyr Izbash, the former commander of the 65th Mechanized Brigade, noting his appointment to a higher position.

Time for a quick recap: In the first six months of 2025, Russian forces captured 1,834 km² – an increase of approximately 150% compared to the same period last year.
Hello, orc lover!
Hello loser
And lost ~230 000 soldiers.
Ukraine covers 603.628 km². 1,834 km² corresponds roughly to 0,3 % of total Ukrainian territory. As of 11.06.2025, Russia occupies 19% or ≈114,710 km². (by Belfer Center)
In addition, this is over 11 years of war
What you’ll see going forward is an accelerating pace of Russian advances. I expect to see occasional monthly advances reaching into the four digits.
Are you looking into a glas ball?
So they made a low(!) four digit advance in 6 months and now, magically, they are “occasionally” to advance 1000 km² in a month? That’s 0,17 % total Ukrainian territory. All with 27 to 167 casualties per km² gained. It’s not about territory anymore. It’s about breaking the will to fight. But with at least 27000 casualties for 1000 km², the attacker can break too.
No glass ball needed – just watching the same experts who’ve been confidently wrong three years in a row.
