The commander of the 110th Brigade was killed in a strike

Colonel Serhiy Zakharevich, commander of the 110th Mechanized Brigade of the Ground Forces, was killed in the area of operations. According to President Zelenskyy’s evening address, the colonel died as a result of a Russian strike on Huliaipole in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, which also claimed the lives of several other brigade officers and injured more than 30 people. The General Staff has confirmed Zakharevich’s death, and a full investigation into the circumstances of the strike is currently underway.
“Our army has lost another representative of the new generation of Ukrainian officers who grew up in battle and became a model of courage and proactive military leadership,” the official statement reads.
The Russian strike
On the morning of July 1, Russian invasion forces launched two ballistic missiles at Huliaipole in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. The settlement is located approximately 70 kilometers from the front line.
Who was Serhiy Zakharevich
Serhiy Zakharevich was a colonel in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He graduated from the Odesa Institute of the Ground Forces and began his service in the reconnaissance company of the 30th Mechanized Brigade. In 2010, he was appointed commander of a reconnaissance company in the 1st Tank Brigade. Following the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, he became the deputy commander of the 33rd Mechanized Brigade, and in February 2025, he was appointed commander of the 110th Mechanized Brigade.
