Настав час зазирнути в майбутнє і поговорити про те, що чекає на нас у 2024 році.
За кілька тижнів виповниться десять років відтоді, як Росія анексувала Крим і вторглася на Донбас. Попереду нас чекають сумні та болючі річниці. Однак, перш ніж ми дійдемо до них, настав час поговорити про місце і про те, куди воно рухається.
Я створив цей сайт у 2017 році, щоб писати про українські добровольчі та регулярні підрозділи. Важко уявити, але тоді не було жодного англомовного сайту про українські підрозділи та армію. Сьогодні ситуація змінилася. Українська армія - популярна тема, підрозділи добре відомі, про них пишуть багато людей. Єдиний мінус - це так звані копіпастери, тобто люди, які використовують нас як джерело і копіюють у нас інформацію. Зазвичай вони не посилаються на нас, або, що ще гірше, роблять вигляд, що це їхня робота.
Повномасштабне вторгнення Росії в Україну в лютому 2022 року вивело сайт на новий рівень. Карти та регулярні зведення привели сюди багато нових відвідувачів, і завдяки цьому сайт здобув свою популярність, навіть небажану. Однак це також змістило напрямок руху MilitaryLand в інше русло. Підтримка сайту, написання зведень, додавання підрозділів до бази даних і т.д. забирає багато часу і не піддається довготривалому управлінню.
Іноді мені хочеться, щоб мій вільний час був необмеженим, але це не так. Мені потрібно розставляти пріоритети в особистому житті, і я більше не можу витрачати більшу його частину на роботу над цим сайтом. Ні, це не кінець MilitaryLand.net. Мені просто потрібно зробити його таким, яким він був раніше - приємним хобі, а не обов'язком, не стресовим і безсонним зобов'язанням.
Для того, щоб досягти цього, мені потрібно вжити певних заходів. Наші відомі підсумки підійшли до кінця, і карти підуть своїм шляхом. Я дякую всім за те, що ви їх прочитали, і якщо вам сподобалися карти, будь ласка, слідкуйте за новинами.
Зараз MilitaryLand.net зосередиться на тому, про що йшлося, коли я створював сайт у 2017 році - про українські регулярні та добровольчі підрозділи. Якщо вам подобається те, що ви бачите тут, і ви хотіли б допомогти, не соромтеся звертатися. Є багато підрозділів, про які ми досі не написали на сайті, і про них є багато тем для написання.
І останнє, але не менш важливе: я хотів би подякувати дописувачам MilitaryLand.net - козаку, zhutatko, sirdo та команді модераторів, які опікуються нашим сервером Discord - EnaxTM, козаку, Dikobraz, Evvuut, Kodiak та Sarveza.

Thank you for your work Jerome. Your map updates are a painful loss, they provided a way better summary of the military situation in Ukraine than any of the big news outlets are able or willing to do. Even the comments were worth reading most of the time, so thank you to everyone that contributed 🙂

Yes, I don’t actively ask for anything, because I believe it’s not fair to “benefit” from the war. If you want to donate, there is an option, but it’s not prominent on purpose.
I am sure you do not “benefit” from the war if you accept compensation for expences (websitehosting or partial costs for hardware) you need for your work. It only lowers additinoal costs you have due to russian aggression and due to your sacrifice to inform us.

It honors you, that you do not focus on money. I do the same, therefore i can easily honor your work not only by words. 😉 If there are too many donations (which i do not think): sent excess money to ukraine. 😉
No, I never did because my views and perspective are quite different from Jerome’s. So if I make a financial donation it might be kinda awkward both for me and Jerome
Yes, it is doable, but I’d feel better if somebody would volunteer and helped me to monitor all events. You can easily miss something on a monthly basis.

It’s good that the website continues to keep us up to date about the Ukrainian units. Militaryland has always been my first source of information regarding Ukrainian units.

No, forum has been retired a few months ago. It’s not in my capabilities to maintain and moderate forum.

I understand your decision. Even if I will miss your summaries (which were the most reliable ones I could find), this website is a goldmine of useful information about Ukrainian units, and that’s where I always come to check the information I find elsewhere.
Thanks, I’m glad to hear they were reliable. I always tried to verify stuff as much as possible rather than aim for sensations. It brought love and hate from both sides, but it was always “civil” in the end.
