50th Mechanized Brigade Revealed: What We Know

50th Mechanized Brigade of Ukraine’s Ground Forces has been officially revealed through social media, namely a Сторінка у Facebook. It is one of three confirmed new mechanized brigades currently being formed in 2026.

The brigade operates under Operational Command North. This alignment aligns with ongoing social media reports indicating that the unit is primarily being raised and trained in Honcharivske and Zvyahel.

The 50th Mechanized Brigade has received its unique insignia, featuring a wolf as the main motif. According to research by MilitaryLand.net, the unit has been assigned military unit number A5348, and relatives of servicemen have already begun actively fundraising for equipment, signaling that the formation process is well underway.

Alongside newly mobilized personnel, and according to information available to MilitaryLand.net, higher command has also decided to transfer some personnel from the 72nd Mechanized Brigade, the 93rd Mechanized Brigade, and the 420th Unmanned Systems Battalion to the new brigade. As a result, these units will not receive the bulk of the replenishment promised from the spring and summer mobilization waves.

In addition to the 50th Mechanized Brigade, the 167th Mechanized Brigade is currently being formed, and — as MilitaryLand reported just yesterday — so is the 55th Mechanized Brigade.
