155th Brigade Commander in Hiding After Soldiers Detained Over Alleged Kidnappings

The commander of Ukraine’s 155th Mechanized Brigade, Stanislav Luchanov, is being sought by authorities after several of his soldiers were detained on suspicion of abducting two civilian men from the Kyiv region.
За даними hromadske, the information was confirmed by two sources within Ukraine’s Defense Forces and one source in law enforcement.
During the night of June 27–28, seven individuals reportedly entered the property of two brothers in the Kyiv region and forcibly took them to an unknown location. Relatives of the missing men told hromadske that their whereabouts remain unknown.
The press service of the Kyiv Regional Police declined to comment on the ongoing investigation.
За даними hromadske‘s law enforcement sources, police have detained nine soldiers from the 155th Mechanized Brigade on suspicion of involvement in the abduction. Among those detained is a battalion commander from the brigade.
Luchanov assumed command of the 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade in February 2026. Prior to that, he served as chief of staff of the 425th “Skelya” Regiment.
In May, a video circulated on social media showing a serviceman from the 155th Brigade beating another soldier, who was sitting on the ground with his hands tied behind his back. Luchanov denied any involvement in the incident and stated that he condemned the assault.
Ukraine’s Operational Command North підтверджено that law enforcement authorities have opened an investigation. The servicemen involved have been suspended from duty and are cooperating with investigators. Authorities are currently trying to establish the whereabouts of the commander of the 155th Mechanized Brigade.
