MilitaryLand.net was founded in October 2017 by Jerome Rendall to document and analyze Ukrainian units. Initially focused on volunteer battalions during the Donbas war, the site has since expanded to cover all branches of Ukraine’s defense forces—including the Armed Forces, National Guard, National Police, and Main Intelligence Directorate.

As the first English-language platform to provide in-depth coverage of the Ukrainian military, MilitaryLand.net filled a significant gap in accessible information for international audiences. Over time, it has evolved into a recognized reference source, maintaining a verified database of more than 1,000 Ukrainian units alongside ongoing reporting and analysis.

Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the site has provided continuous coverage of the conflict, including early documentation of the invasion and some of the first verified imagery of the invasion.
