List of the former Volunteer Territorial Defence Battalions

Hello there,

here is a list of the former Territorial Defence Battalions that were formed in 2014 and where they are as of March 2023. My sources are ukrainian wikipedia pages of the units and the sources that are named there. I just google translate it into english and put it into a simple list. There is also a list in on the ukrainian wiki page about the topic Батальйони територіальної оборони України (2014)
The list starts with the original name of the units and the origin oblast of most of its first members. Then i give the year of reorganization and the new name with the superordinate brigade, followed by subsequent changes like renaming or transferring tp pther units.

Hope this is help full to this side, as i saw that this was on the To-Do list.

1st Territorial Defence Battalion «Volyn» (Volyn Oblast)
  - 2015 reorganized into: 1st Separate Motorized Infantry Battalion, 14th Mechanized Brigade

2nd Territorial Defence Battalion "Horyn" (Rivne Oblast)
  - 2014 reorganized into: 2nd Separate Motorized Infantry Battalion, 30th Mechanized Brigade

3rd Territorial Defence Battalion "Volya" (Lviv Oblast)
  - 2014 reorganized into: 3rd Separate Motorized Infantry Battalion, 24th Mechanized Brigade

4th Territorial Defence Battalion "Zakarpattia" (Zakarpattia Oblast)
  - 2014 reorganized into: 4th Mountain Assault Battalion "Zakarpattia", 128th Mountain Assault Brigade
    - 2018 renamed: Line Motorized Infantry Battalion "Bears", 128th Mountain Assault Brigade

5th Territorial Defence Battalion "Prykarpattya" (Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast)
  - disbanded in January 2015 after the Battle of Ilovaisk

6th Territorial Defence Battalion "Zbruch" (Ternopil Oblast)
  - 2014 reorganized into Motorized Infantry Battalion, 128th Mountain Infantry Brigade
    - 2015 reorganized into 6th Guard Battalion, 44th Missile Brigade
      - 2016 transferred to: 19th Missile Brigade

7th Territorial Defence Battalion "Khmelnitsky" (Khmelnytskyi Oblast)
- 2014 reorganized into 7th Guard Battalion, 19th Missile Brigade
  - 2016 transferred to: 44th Artillery Brigade

There is a bit of a confusion when it comes to the 6th and 7th Battalions. The Wiki page of the 19th Missile Brigade lists the 7th to be part of the 19th Missile Brigade. Yet the wiki page of the 7th Battalion claims it was part of the 19th in 2014 and then it transferred to the 44th Artillery Brigade in 2016. 44th Brigade page however lists the 6th Battalion (2015) and, you guessed it, the 6th battalion page claims it transferred to the 19th Missile Brigade in 2016, after it was part 128th Mountain Infantry Brigade in 2014. So there was a switch for some reason.

9th Territorial Defence Battalion "Vinnytsia" (Vinnytsia Oblast)
  - 2014 reorganized into: 9th Motorized Battalion "Vinnytsia", 59th Motorized Brigade

10th Territorial Defence Battalion "Polesia" (Zhytomyr Oblast)
  - 2014 reorganized into: 10th Motorized Battalion "Polissya", 59th Motorized Brigade

11th Territorial Defence Battalion "Kyivan Rus" (Kyiv Oblast)
  - 2014 reorganized into: 11th Motorized Battalion "Kyivan Rus", 59th Motorized Brigade

12th Territorial Defence Battalion "Kyiv" (Kyiv City)
  - 2014 reorganized into: 12th Separate Motorized Infantry Battalion "Kyiv", 26th Artillery Brigade
    - 2016 transferred to: 72nd Mechanized Brigade

13th Territorial Defence Battalion "Chernihiv-1" (Chernihiv Oblast)
  - 2015 reorganized into: 13th Motorized Infantry Battalion , 58th Motorized Brigade

14th Territorial Defence Battalion "Cherkasy" (Cherkasy Oblast)
  - 2017 reorganized into: 14th Guard Battalion, 26th Artillery Brigade

15th Territorial Defence Battalion "Sumy" (Sumy Oblast)
  - 2014 reorganized into: 15th Motorized Infantry Battalion, 92th Mechanized Brigade
    - 2015 transferred to: 58th Motorized Brigade

16th Territorial Defence Battalion "Poltava" (Poltava Oblast)

37th Territorial Defence Battalion "Zaporozhzhia" (Zaporizhia Oblast)
  - 2015 reorganized into: 37th Motorized Battalion "Zaporozhzhia", 56th Motorized Brigade

39th Territorial Defence Battalion "Dnipro-2" (Dnipropetrovsk Oblast)
  - 2014 reorganized into: (39th) Guard Battalion "Dnipro-2", 55th Artillery Brigade

40th Territorial Defence Battalion "Kryvbas" (Dnipropetrovsk Oblast)
  - disbanded in January 2015 after the Battle of Debaltseve

41st Territorial Defence Battalion disbanded "Chernihiv-2" (Chernihiv Oblast)
  - 2016 reorganized into: 41st Guard Battalion "Chernihiv-2", 27th Rocket Brigade

42nd Territorial Defence Battalion "Rukh Oporu" (Kirovohrad Oblast)
  - 2014 reorganized into: 42th Separate Motorized Battalion "Rukh Oporu", 57th Motorized Brigade

43rd Territorial Defence Battalion "Patriot" (Dnipropetrovsk Oblast)
  - As of May 2016 reorganized into: 43rd Separate Motorized Infantry Battalion "Patriot", 53rd Mechanized Brigade

44th Territorial Defence Battalion - not formed because lack of legal signs for creation

  - created as 5th Guards Battalion of the Air Force
    - 2014 reorganized into: 45th Separate Motorized Infantry Battalion, 92th Mechanized Brigade
      - 2016 reorganized into: 45th Guard Battalion, 43rd Artillery Brigade

46th Battalion Donbas-Ukraine
  - created 2015 as Battalion "Donbas-Ukraine"
    - renamed 46th Separate Special Purposes Battalion
      - As of 2016 transferred to: 54th Mechanized Brigade
        - 2019 renamed 46th Separate Assault Battalion "Donbas"
