Operation Report 2019 – Week #25

Operation reports are summary of what happened in Joint forces operation zone (previously known as Anti-Terrorist Operation zone or ATO) during the last week. 

Casualties

June 17, 2019

  • Tikhonov Pavel (57th Mechanized Brigade) a commander of reconnaissance platoon. He died while performing a combat task near Donetsk Airport.

June 19, 2019

  • Lyashok Alexander (35th Marine Corps Brigade) a marine. He died during an attack on Ukrainian positions near Nikolaevka, Donetsk Region.

June 22, 2019

  • ?? (24th Mechanized Brigade) a soldier. He was killed by an explosive device while performing a patrol near Olenivka, Donetsk Region.

Military

Ukrainian Forces advanced near Mariupol

Ukrainian 36th Marine Corps Brigade, with support of 79th AirAssault Brigade and artillery, captured a strategically important Hill 73 near Vodyane. The position, nicknamed “Derzkaya” is overlooking Vodyane and was abandoned by separatist forces due to constant pressure by Ukrainian forces in the area and heavy casualties sustained there. It’s a significant development of Ukrainian tactics as until recently, the Ukrainian Army was just capturing empty “grey zone” areas.

The Hill 73 has been captured at the begging of June but we could verify such information and position during the previous week. You can find photos from the positions and captured equipment below.
